Patient Relaxation LLC provides massages to patients of the Karmanos Cancer Institute twice a week. These massages are generously funded by the McLaren Foundation, and are at no cost to the patients.
In order to get these massages, patients should contact their oncologists or their oncology social workers.
Each session is 20 minutes in length. In the chemotherapy unit, the patient remains in their lounge chair, and we can massage their shoulders, neck, upper back, hands or feet. In the radiation unit, the patient can get a massage either in a specially designed massage chair, or in a lounge chair.
