Massage Therapy Advanced Skills Residency

In order to work at Patient Relaxation LLC, your first six months will be spent working with our clients while building skills you may not have needed before in what we call the Advanced Skills Residency.

If you are a Massage Therapist who graduated from an accredited massage program and has gotten your license within the last year or so, and you are interested in building up your knowledge and hands-on experience in a structured way under the guidance of an experienced massage educator, consider applying for our six-month Paid Massage Therapy Advanced Skills Residency.

Licensed Massage Therapists (LMTs) with more experience are welcome to apply as well, and will be expected to go into greater depth as they work through the Advanced Skills Residency.

We are looking for LMTs who have excellent basic massage skills, intellectual curiosity, and a strong desire to build competence in working with:

  • Clients with complex or serious medical conditions (cardiac conditions, surgery, life-altering disease or injuries, cancer, fibromyalgia, etc.)

  • Clients who are medically fragile (bruise easily, use oxygen, have medical implants or replacement joints, clot easily)

  • Clients with psychological, neurological, and/or emotional complications or fragility (PTSD, bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression, stroke, dementia)

This program is a paid residency. Resident LMT will be paid per massage performed, as well as for each hands-on training session. Resident will be required to do certain training modules (such as infection control, or working with people with fibromyalgia), and others may be determined by the preferences and strengths of the LMT.

You will be utilizing free continuing education courses through your AMTA/ABMP membership in conjunction with structured training sessions with the LMTs of Patient Relaxation.

Pay scale will be similar to that at massage chain stores and local spas, and will be dependent on experience, skill level, and education.

Schedule and time commitment are subject to availability. Residency could be full or part time, but a minimum of three "shifts" a week are expected. Our office is open Mondays through Saturdays, and an example of a typical shift is 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Other blocks of time may be available.
